Ref; Veterans Day Activities

I am finally back in operation with my computer and real sorry I wasn’t able to give this information sooner.  This is about our annual promotional activities concerning American Indian Veterans Day, on or about Veterans Day.

This year we have decided to honor two teams working on the same subject but at different locations so as to kill two birds with one stone.

Team one; will be setting up their Teepee at the Veterans Memorial Park in Window Rock Arizona on November 8th.  Commander Leroy Thomas of the Teecto Veteran Association will be taking charge of the activities there.  It will be up to him to organize and monitor the itinerary.  For any type of information please call (928) 657-3476 evenings.

Team two; will be setting up three Teepees at the usual place, northeast of Washington Monument, DC, on the mall.  The meetings will be happening on the eve of Nov. 8th. 2008.  Information: contact Ray Slowman (518) 358-9611, mohawkbasket@yahoo.com

It is phenomenal to get this many people involved, because we started with only one Teepee in 2002.  Our accomplishments are great and our first resolution for the American Indian Veterans Day made it all the way to the US. President George Bush in 2003.  For unexplainable reason he did not signed the Resolution HR 239, which would have given an American Indian Warrior a celebrative day through out the whole United States.  As an American Indian we know we were there from day one, when the first European arrived on the shores of Turtle Island, helped them survive the atrocity of traveling across the ocean, and help them win their independence from the British.  Today we are still there, helping win their battles we had nothing to do of starting it.  God made American Indians, caretakers of this beautiful land (Turtle Island) and all who lived upon it thousands of years ago.  Though American Indians are not the primary caretakers anymore of this beautiful land, they still love this land and will willingly die protecting it.

We just want to portray to our people a hundred or two hundred years from now that we were honorable people at one time.  That our life is based on Faith, Love, Hope, and Charity.
